About UsDenise Hooker - Practitioner ProfileDenise’s background was initially in engineering and research. However her passion for understanding more about the body’s inbuilt intelligence, and her success in treating horses with Craniosacral therapy, led her to continue her studies to become a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist for people, and then broadening her studies to also include Kinesiology and Chi Kung. Denise is a certified Biodynamic Craniosacral therapist and has attained BCST status with the International Affiliation of Biodynamic Trainings (IABT), and is a member of the Pacific Association of Craniosacral Therapists (PACT). Denise is also a certified Kinesiologist and has studied and teaches Elemental Chi Kung. Craniosacral Therapy, Kinesiology and Chi Kung work together to give great scope to assist with a wide range of issues. Denise's persona and experience give a very supported, centred and grounded space. Denise lives near Samford, Brisbane with her partner, horses, and dog. 'After many years of providing professional support to both people and horses, it is still the most honouring experience to witness the ability of every individual's body to self-heal given the opportunity'
From a birds eye view...Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy facilitates the body’s own intelligence to actively balance the body as a whole, so all areas affected by a condition are taken into account, rather than just addressing part of the problem by looking only at symptomatic areas. This allows the whole body to be brought into alignment, by facilitating the body’s intelligence to self-correct. A cascade of adjustments then takes place, down to the cellular level. Craniosacral therapy helps to resolve issues by freeing the body tissue layers to work fluidly with each other, promoting a healthy and dynamic feeling, in both a physical and emotional way. Kinesiology is very good at targeting specific issues, while accessing and supporting the balance of all factors inhibiting recovery. Information about the body’s current state is established through muscle monitoring, allowing a wide range of areas (e.g. physical, emotional, neurological, environmental, dietary, etc.) to be explored. The optimal technique to re-establish balance is then determined (for example traditional Chinese medicine techniques, tuning forks, essences, muscle release techniques or craniosacral therapy). Harmony is re-established when the conscious & the unconscious refocus and work together fluidly. Chi Kung exercises empower people to be able to support themselves in maintaining a centred and healthy state. By increasing body and chi awareness through movement, stillness, and meditation, the internal flow of chi (vital energy) increases, along with health. Chi Kung movements are very simple and easy to do, and facilitate stretching and mobilising the body and its joints. With practice the continuous flow of chi can be consciously perceived.
